Student Government

Welcome Letter from Your Governor

Dear Admitted Students of Fall 2023,

Congratulations on your admission to the University of South Florida! All your hard work has finally paid off, and we welcome you to this exciting new chapter of your life as a USF Bull!

The USF St. Petersburg campus is incredibly unique, as we are situated within the downtown area right along the waterfront where students have close proximity to a variety of shops, concerts, and nightlife as well as incredible professional and educational opportunities within the city and business sector. Additionally, we are only 20 minutes from the beach and students have access to all of the wonderful resources provided by the city such as the Beach to ‘Burg SunRunner.

While studying here, you will have access to a state-of-the-art Marine Biology Institute that partners closely with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, the Merrill Lynch Center that provides students the platform for stock investments and financial literacy, and a team of highly accomplished faculty contributing to groundbreaking research and collaboration in fields such as business, politics, science, and art.

We truly value our tightly-knit community that emphasizes a network of cooperation and unity. As an incoming student, you will enter a thriving student body on our campus, and your unique innovations and distinct skills can play an integral role in the success of our institution.

While academics should be your primary focus while attending USF, it is important for you to get involved and engaged on campus as soon as you can. This will allow you to truly make the most of your experience and aid you in building connections that will allow you to be successful. You can do this by joining a student organization, club sports team, getting a job on campus, and much more! We also encourage you to download the BullsConnect app, so that you can check out the wide variety of events and activities at USF St. Pete, as well as our other USF campus locations (which are free for you to attend)!

As your elected representatives in Student Government, we have pledged to serve the student body and aim to make the USF St. Petersburg Campus a better place for our current and incoming students. This year, we plan on pursuing initiatives in student wellness, engagement, sustainability, and diversity, aiming to promote a more supportive and inclusive campus community. Please feel free to drop by our office in the Student Life Center (SLC) 1500 or follow us on Instagram at @USFSPSG if we can ever answer any questions or hear your concerns.

Thank you and we look forward to seeing you here this fall!
