Internship leads to Zoo School teaching job for new alum
On the same day a USF St. Petersburg videographer visited ZooTampa to interview a student about her internship, Madison Connell was offered a job. Connell, who graduated this spring, is now a teacher at the Florida Environmental Education Center or “Zoo School.”

USF graduate helps brew first university-branded beer
What started as curiosity during visits to local breweries eventually led Brian Brown to help create the first USF-branded beer. Brown worked alongside classmates in the Brewing Arts program and brewers at Mastry's Brewing Co. to develop the St. Pete Pilsner, which will be featured at Bulls & Brews by the Bay.

The University of South Florida will welcome a fleet of offshore sailing yachts to its campus in downtown St. Petersburg, as teams of extreme athletes sprint around the world for The Ocean Race 2027. The newly announced St. Pete-Clearwater stopover brings this iconic sailing race to the Gulf Coast for the first time.

Discovery of first St. Patrick’s Day leads to museum exhibition on the Irish in Florida
In 2018, USF St. Petersburg historian J. Michael Francis uncovered that the first known celebration of St. Patrick took place not in New York City or Boston or even Ireland, but St. Augustine, Fla. Now, that discovery has led to a new museum exhibition that highlights the Irish diaspora in east Florida.

Partnership with local brewery creates first USF-branded beer
For the first time, the public can now purchase a beer crafted with USF at its core – from its branding to its brewing process. Brewed by USF alumni at Mastry's Brewing, it features a student-designed label. A portion of all proceeds will go to support USF's Brewing Arts program.
