STUDENT EMPLOYMENT POSITIONS
AQUATICS
Lifeguard
The primary responsibility as a lifeguard is to prevent drowning and other injuries
from occurring, ensure the safety of patrons by minimizing or eliminating hazardous
situations or behaviors, able to solve on-the-job issues and enforce pool policies.
Swim Instructor
The purpose of being a Water Safety Instructor is to teach people how to be safe in,
on and or around water and to teach people of all ages and varying abilities how to
swim.
FITNESS CENTER
Fitness Center Assistants
Fitness Center Assistants (FCAs) are responsible for prevention and response to unsafe
or potentially harmful situations, cleaning the fitness equipment, providing members
with excellent customer service, selling memberships and day passes, checking out
equipment to members, managing facility access, communicating information and needs
with Fitness Center Team Leads and Campus Recreation professional staff, as well as
meeting any needs that might arise within the Fitness Center. There is no prior experience
necessary.
Group Fitness Instructors
The primary purpose of this position is to provide inclusive exercise classes for
the USF St. Petersburg community by leading multiple fitness classes per week.
Personal Trainers
The primary purpose of this position is to assist Campus Recreation personal training
clients with reaching their health and fitness goals through hands-on fitness coaching
and developing exercise routines for their clients.
OUTDOOR RECREATION
Adventure Trip Staff
Trip Staff are responsible for assisting the trip leader with the design, planning,
marketing, packing, leading, and breakdown of all adventure trips. Trip staff are
expected to maintain a high level of safety for all patrons through the entirety of
the adventure trip.
Boathouse Staff
The Boathouse staff are responsible for prevention and response to unsafe or potentially
harmful situations, cleaning the waterfront equipment, providing members with excellent
customer service, checking out equipment to members, communicating information and
needs with Waterfront Coordinator. There is no prior experience necessary.
Sailing Instructor
Sailing Instructors are responsible for teaching basic sailing techniques, supervision,
control, and safety of all class participants.
Powerboating Instructor
Powerboating Instructors are responsible for teaching basic power boating techniques,
supervision, control, and safety of all class participants.
THE EDGE
Edge and Event Staff
The primary purpose of this position is to monitor The Edge during open recreation
hours as well as private events. Responsibilities include: checking out equipment
to members, ensuring safe operation of all games and systems, and providing excellent
customer service to all patrons. There is no prior experience necessary.
INTRAMURAL SPORTS
Officials
Officials are responsible for keeping the integrity of the game and providing a safe
environment for all participants involved. There is no prior experience necessary.
All sport specific training will be provided to ensure you are ready to take on the
challenge and succeed as soon as you step into your first game.
