USF students bring portable solar/thermal technology to Africa

Several USF students got to experience the trip of a lifetime as they helped bring portable solar/thermal technology to nomadic tribes in Africa.

In July, eight students and two professors from the Tampa and St. Petersburg campuses traveled to Tanzania. They used their knowledge of both science and sociology to introduce technology to the Maasai Tribe.

The project is funded through an ongoing grant from the National Science Foundation and is a collaboration with students from the Nelson Mandela African Institute for Science and Technology.

In the video above, hear from a student and professor from the USF St. Petersburg campus about their role in the project and see some of the amazing  pictures from the trip.
