Graduate Major

Educational Studies is designed for those who desire to increase their competence in working with children of elementary age in diverse educational and leadership roles. Graduates bring high-level skills in planning and leadership to their professional roles in the communities they serve.

DEGREE OPTIONS

The College of Education offers a Master in Arts (MA) in Educational Studies. The MA is not designed for those seeking initial teacher certification.

EDUCATIONAL STUDIES AT USF ST PETERSBURG

Students pursuing Educational Studies on the St. Petersburg campus benefit from having a dedicated academic advisor on-site as well as College of Education faculty to help guide them through their graduate journey. The program’s pedagogical approach is inclusive of special and elementary education. Graduates will have the knowledge to work with students from a wide range of backgrounds with different needs.
 
Students can utilize the STEM Inquiry and Emerging Technology labs inside the College of Education. These labs allow educators to infuse the latest STEM into their teaching methods. The labs are rich with multidisciplinary tools, including a plethora of 3D printers in addition to a laser printer, VEX IQ and First Lego Robots, AutoCAD and virtual and augmented reality. It is designed to encourage experiential and inquiry-based learning models, which means more hands-on experimentation and less time reading textbooks. 
 
Students with degrees in Educational Studies often work in public or private educational institutions, nonprofits, business or corporate jobs and service organizations.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE MASTER OF EDUCATIONAL STUDIES 

Always refer to the Graduate Catalog for degree requirements. Students are urged to consult with the Education advisor to create the most beneficial set of courses.
