Psychology

Overview

Psychology involves the scientific study of behavior and mental processes. Because of this focus, psychology is relevant to many other areas of study both inside and outside of the social and behavioral sciences. The Psychology program at USF’s St. Petersburg campus provides access to world-class faculty who study psychological issues across the lifespan, including infant-family mental health and co-parenting; severe behavior disorders; the impact of pediatric illness on psychosocial functioning during childhood and adolescence; parent-teen relationships; sexual and reproductive health among youth; romantic relationships and substance use; depression; social perception and judgment; and cognitive functioning in older adults.
