The Office of Student Outreach & Support (SOS) works in partnership with Support, Outreach and Care Action Team (SOCAT). The Support, Outreach and Care Team (SOCAT) at the University of South Florida Petersburg is concerned with the wellbeing of all students and is committed to creating an environment that is safe for learning and development by; providing a centralized process for staff, faculty, peers, and community providers who identify a student in need of support, recognizing students in distress through that a student poses a danger to self, others, or campus life, collaborating with SOS to ensure students are connected with appropriate resources, sharing information regarding students in need of support.
STUDENT OUTREACH AND SUPPORT
Provides direct care interventions
Rating, risk management, non-direct interventions to students who pose risk of danger to self or others
REFERRAL AND CONSULTATION
Review all referrals consults with departments as needed
Offer appointments to discuss needs, assess for safety, and develop support plan
TRAINING AND PROGRAMING
SOS & SOCAT trains campus to identify, support, and refer students in need of support.
