School Registration and Child Care

Children writing on paper

Relatives or Non-relatives with an open case may contact their caseworker to request a referral for School Readiness childcare scholarship with The Early Learning Coalition. Once the referral is received, an appointment notice is mailed out for the client to come into the ELC office at the Eckerd building in Largo for an intake interview. At the appointment, the relative must provide birth certificate and photo ID as well as have already picked out an early learning/child care center for the child to attend as we auto-enroll the child at time of interview. The length of the scholarship is determined by the caseworker.

For older children, try to keep the child in their current preschool, kindergarten, or elementary, middle or high school if possible – or until a suitable break in the school year allows for a smooth transition.
