Asbestos

The University of South Florida strives to minimize asbestos risks to its faculty, staff, and students. This is accomplished through proper identification and management of asbestos-containing materials inside and outside of campus buildings.

ASBESTOS INFORMATION

Asbestos is a naturally occurring fibrous mineral that has been used extensively in many types of building materials. Asbestos-containing materials in an undisturbed and undamaged state are not considered to be hazardous.

RESPONSIBILITY

Under no circumstances will any faculty, staff, or students be allowed to disturb any asbestos-containing material. Florida licensed asbestos consultants to perform surveys to identify asbestos-containing materials prior to maintenance, renovation, and demolition activities.
