The Office of Sustainability is charged with advising the University on matters pertaining to the campus environment, sustainability, and energy efficiency. Through this mission, the office encourages and facilitates the collaborative efforts of the campus community in generating knowledge, developing values, changing behaviors and initiating practices that contribute to a sustainable campus.

The Office of Sustainability serves as the primary hub for all sustainability efforts, practices, and initiatives on campus. The office is open to all ideas, projects and campaigns to make USF St. Petersburg more sustainable.


  • Leading and coordinating STARS 2.0 (through the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education)
  • Conducting Greenhouse Gas (GHG) inventories and accomplishing objectives and goals within the Climate Action Plan (CAP) to comply with the American College and University Presidents’ Climate Commitment (ACUPCC)
  • Planning for LEED certification of all new construction
  • Assisting with student organizations such as the Student Green Energy Fund and the Clean
  • Energy and Resource Conservation Commission
  • Maintaining the green revolving fund
