Students and Community

Center for Civic Engagement makes USF’s St. Petersburg campus distinctive in its commitment to civic and community engagement through the development of the “Citizen Scholar” program, which combines concepts learned in the classroom into the local community.

  • Maintaining a Community Partner and Service Learning Placement Directory and Citizen Scholar Course Catalog with hundreds of courses where students engage with community businesses, organizations, and social service agencies. Here is a list of some of them.
  • Coordinating student internship programs in Tampa Bay, Tallahassee, and Washington.
  • Hosting a Civic Engagement Fair every semester, which invites our community partners to campus to table at the event. Faculty, staff, and students can connect with internship and volunteer opportunities.
  • Awarding the Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Civic Engagement to students and student organizations, who are honored at the annual Rocky's Awards.
