Windward Camp
Join us for an exciting opportunity to attend a week long program a week prior to the start of the Fall semester that will help prepare you for your first year at USF St. Petersburg!
The Windward Success Camp and the Start Strong Programs are free for USF St. Petersburg students who are accepted into these opportunities. At USF St. Petersburg, we believe in you, and we invest in your success.
The Windward Success Camp is a 3-day, 2-night off-campus program where you will experience fun-filled days of high-energy team building activities, leadership development, and opportunities to build connections with other first-year students. This is the perfect way to enjoy the outdoors, make new friends, and learn how to accomplish your goals in college.
Immediately following the Windward Success Camp, you have the opportunity to participate in a Start Strong Program in Biology, Math, or Collegiate Reading & Writing. Start Strong is an empowering on-ramp that prepares you to be successful at USF St. Petersburg. This 4-day intensive program introduces you to the rigors of college coursework while sharpening your skills, knowledge, and abilities in one of the themed areas. If you are planning on majoring in Biology, we encourage you to select the Start Strong Biology program. If you’d like to strengthen your math or collegiate level reading and writing skills, we have a program especially for you!
**Please be aware that in order to attend one of the Start Strong programs, you must participate in the Windward Success Camp.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Expect to have lots of fun! At the Windward Success Camp, you will be placed in a variety of small groups led by Compass Student Leaders to participate in camp activities, have discussions, win competitions, and get to know the USF St. Petersburg traditions.

During Start Strong, you will work with our outstanding faculty and success staff while you develop critical thinking and study skills, learning to balance your time between academics and social life; all necessary for your future success.
Meals are included during both programs.
LOCATION AND DATES
Windward Success Camp will take place at Day Springs Episcopal Conference Center in Parrish, FL from Friday, August 16 until Sunday, August 18. Accommodations are air conditioned, with bunk-bed style sleeping quarters. All cabins are carpeted and have indoor plumbing.
Start Strong will take place on the USF St. Petersburg campus, starting with a kick-off on the evening of Sunday, August 18 and concluding with a celebration on the evening of Thursday, August 22. If you are living on campus for the 2019-2020 academic year, you will be able to move into your residence hall room prior to departing for Windward Success Camp on Friday, August 16, 2019.

Complete the Registration Form by 11:59 PM on Friday, June 28, 2019. If selected, you will be notified by end of day on Thursday, August 1, 2019.
