Starting in Summer/Fall

There are three required elements of First Year Orientation:

  1. Pre-Orientation Course: Reserved students will gain access to a Canvas course of modules covering the basics of life at our campus, to experience at your own pace. The Pre-Orientation Course must be complete one week prior to your Live Synchronous Orientation Session, and will take roughly 3.5-5 hours. New students will receive an email once the Canvas portion has opened.

  2. Academic Requirements: You will find information about Academic Advising and registering for courses in the College Overview section of your Pre-Orientation Course in Canvas. Please also regularly check your e-mail as the Academic Advising Center on the USF St. Petersburg campus may send additional instructions there. Students should aim to complete their immunization documents and Pre-Orientation Course prior to meeting their academic advising meeting.

  3. Live Synchronous Orientation Session: On your scheduled Orientation session date, you will join Orientation Leaders and other incoming students in a Microsoft Teams Meeting. Through facilitated conversations, presentations from campus offices, and virtual activities, you will have the opportunity to ask questions, make connections, and prepare for the transition to USF. A copy of a sample schedule is available in the Pre-Orientation course.
