USF's St. Petersburg Campus Homepage

  • Audience: external audience of current and prospective students, alumni, faculty and staff, parents of USF students, community partners and friends of the University
  • Purpose/Content: provide a snapshot on USF St. Petersburg campus and a springboard to academic and campus information, as well as feature major news, upcoming events, prestigious rankings
  • Submission Guidelines: to suggest content for the homepage, contact Matthew Cimitile.

 University Social Media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube)

  • Audience: external audience of current and prospective students, alumni, faculty and staff, parents of USF students, community partners and friends of the University
  • Purpose/Content: updating audiences 2-3 times a day on University happenings, accomplishments, major research, upcoming events, campus life, student and alumni profiles
  • Timeline: posts are generally scripted out a week ahead of time o Submission Guidelines: to suggest content for University social media, contact Matthew Cimitile

Harborside News Listserv

  • Audience: internal audience of faculty, staff and students who opt-in to receive emails
  • Purpose/Content: for business-related information, upcoming activities, and search committee meetings
  • Submission Guidelines: any faculty, staff, and students can post to Listserv once they have registered

Digital Screens on Campus

  • Audience: on-campus audience
  • Purpose/Content: wall displays graphics in University Student Center (USC) and Kate Tiedemann School of Business & Finance, largely for upcoming events
  • Submission Guidelines: Reach out to Warren Bucholz for adding content to wall in USC

Flyers on Community Boards

  • Audience: on-campus audience
  • Purpose/Content: to hang flyers for activities and events, found in Student Life Center, Library, University Student Center, and elsewhere on campus.
  • Submission Guidelines: any faculty, staff and students can create, print and hang flyers on community boards, though check with Marketing & Communications regarding consistent branding and check with staff in buildings for how many you can attach to each board

WEEKLY

News Story/Press Release/Media Advisory

  • Audience: media contacts and general public
  • Purpose/Content: to generate awareness of major news and happenings on campus to a wider audience, to promote storytelling around the University and its community and to ensure media coverage to reach key audiences
  • Timeline: Pitch story idea at least 2 weeks to a month prior to event, or when it should be completed (varies depending on how many news stories the department is working on at the time)
  • Submission Guidelines: to suggest content for Stories, contact Carrie O’Brion or Matt Cimitile

Regional Chancellors Weekly Update

  • Audience: all faculty and staff
  • Purpose/Content: featuring university-wide announcements and updates from leadership, including such items as consolidation, accreditation, key meetings with community partners and musings from Martin
  • Timeline: Goes out every Monday
  • Submission Guidelines: to suggest content for the Weekly Update, contact Carrie O’Brion

News & Events Digest

  • Audience: all faculty, staff and students
  • Purpose/Content: featuring recent external news over the last week and events that will take place over the next 10 days
  • Timeline: Goes out every Wednesday
  • Submission Guidelines: to suggest content for the Digest, contact Matthew Cimitile

Word for the Herd

  • Audience: students
  • Purpose/Content: loaded with content about what will be happening on campus in the following weeks to come
  • Timeline: Goes out every Monday
  • Submission Guidelines: Can receive and submit content via Digital Media Team

PERIODIC

Mass Emails

  • Audience: faculty, staff and students
  • Purpose/Content: university-wide announcements on critical information or emergency messages suitable to entire USF St. Petersburg campus community
  • Policy: any mass email must be reviewed and approved by USF St. Petersburg campus Marketing & Communications
  • Submission Guidelines: to suggest content for Mass Emails, contact Carrie O’Brion or Matthew Cimitile

WUSF Ads

  • Audience: general public
  • Purpose/Content: ads for promoting USF St. Petersburg campus to local Tampa Bay community in general, content specifically focused on upcoming public events, major news stories, major accomplishments and ads focused on admissions
  • Timeline: Ads are scripted out a week in advance, and take 72 hours to get on air once they are submitted to WUSF
  • Submission Guidelines: to suggest content for WUSF ads, contact Matthew Cimitile

MONTHLY

Harbor Notes Events

  • Audience: alumni and general interest
  • Purpose/Content: monthly preview of major public events on campus
  • Timeline: Goes out around the 1st of the month
  • Submission Guidelines: to suggest content for Harbor Notes Events, contact Matthew Cimitile

Harbor Notes Newsletter

  • Audience: alumni, general interest (those who requested to receive newsletter) faculty and staff
  • Purpose/Content: monthly wrap up of key stories and USF St. Petersburg campus coverage in the media
  • Timeline: Goes out around the 15th of the month
  • Submission Guidelines: n/a, all content in newsletter comes from news stories above or coverage by media outlets

QUARTERLY

USF Magazine

  • Audience: USF alumni, faculty/staff, donors, friends of University and public
  • Purpose/Content: the magazine's focus is to let audiences know about the great stories happening at the University of South Florida, to highlight high impact activities and major initiatives and programs within USF. USF St. Petersburg campus usually gets 2 stories in each edition
  • Submission Guidelines: n/a, all content in USF Magazine comes from news stories above

EACH SEMESTER

Regional Chancellor Letter to Parents

  • Audience: parents
  • Purpose/Content: channel for Regional Chancellor to connect with parents, providing recap of past months and outlook on what is to come
  • Timeline: Goes out at the beginning of each semester
  • Submission Guidelines: to suggest content for Chancellor Letter, contact Carrie O’Brion

YEARLY

Year in Review

  • Audience: external audience of current and prospective students, alumni, faculty and staff, parents of USF students, community partners and friends of the University
  • Purpose/Content: calendar year wrap up of the biggest news, accomplishments and stories from USF St. Petersburg campus – produced and distributed at start of the calendar year
  • Timeline: Goes out in January
  • Submission Guidelines: generally, most of this information will be selected by Marketing and Communications Department from news stories generated over the past year; for additional suggestions, contact Carrie O’Brion or Matthew Cimitile
